Kiss of Midnight -- Discussion #2

Okay girls, I took Billy to the airport this morning and I'm just too upset today to come up with a discussion prompt, so lets just talk about what we DID like and what we DIDN'T like about the book. I can't think of much I didn't like, lol! How about you?

Okay, I'll go first. You all know I am a huge baby and couldn't get past page 8 without getting nightmares. :( So I guess you could say I didn't like the book. But I do love and adore Amber and everything about her. I am sorry you had to send Billy off again, Amber. But we will all be here for you, girl! And BTW, I know that we all love romance books -- but you and your sweetheart are the REAL romance! Love you! MWAH

First of all....huge ((((HUGS)))) sweetie! I wish that I could do something to make the time go faster for you...wanna come visit Texas???

What I loved about the book...

*I really liked that Lucan was a Gen One Breed. I think that it added a lot of depth to his character and the story that he is so close to the edge with his bloodlust and trying to hide that from the warriors.

*I loved that Gabrielle was a photographer and that her photography is all attached to vampires in some way although she never realized it. I really like it when a character is artistic.

*I loved the interaction between the warriors. They are a close bunch and I am so excited to read all of their stories.

*and my last one, I don't want to say because I don't want to give away a spoiler to those that are close to the end, but I really liked the twist of who the bad guy really is...

Christi... you took the words out of my mouth!

1. I agree with you about the Gen One background for Lucan and his struggle with being on the edge of bloodlust... definitely made his character more interesting. I also really enjoyed reading the history of his life.
2. I thought having Gabrielle unknowingly taking photos of the Rogue lairs was an amazing detail... the fact that she was drawn to those places and didn't know why for most of the book was a well thought out addition to the storyline by the author.
3.omg.. the 'Bad Guy' at the end... I had a feeling throughout the book that there would be a twist involving this person but I wasn't sure how... who the bad guy is... really lead me to want to read more in the series and find out what happens!
I am hooked!! Started reading the next book in the series and can't put it down... :)

I'm with you guys! I loved that Lucan is a GenOne! And his struggle with bloodlust is a really great addition, sometimes I get tired of vamps always being "good", I like to see that they have a little bad in them too. It makes them more believable to me.
I absolutely LOVE the angle they took with Gabrielle's photography. It was so spooky and a great addition. I did keep saying to myself "WTH! Are you StuPID? GET OUT OF THERE!" LOL! I don't care how badly I want to take a picture of something, if there are zillions of fences and menacing people watching me, I'm not goin' in, lol! But I felt better after I figured out WHY she did it, she didn't have control...it's like something was leading her there, and now we know what that was!
Count me as totally stupefied when I found out who the bad guy was, didn't see that coming, lol!

I really like the addition of the minions as well. And was thankful to find out that only "the bad guy" was able to create them. If any vamp could make a minion, the story would have got all kinds of crazy, lol!

Amber! Sweetie Big Hugs!!I'm so sorry he had to go! Maybe we can all contribute to a big care package for him or something?
I think I kind of liked all the same things everyone else did..
I really liked Gabrielle's character, and her being a photographer and the twist at the end too. Although I didn't see it coming...I never see it coming..LOL

Awww, Amber, I'm so sorry! Don't know how you do it! You rock! And remember, we are always here to keep you company.

I liked both the main characters. I found them interesting and found the romance between them to be very enjoyable! I really enjoyed the other vamps and Breedmates in the book as well, I'm looking forward to reading about them.

Now, I did find I was SO distracted by the similarities between this and the Black Dagger Brotherhood, that I didn't really enjoy the book at first. (Now, I haven't read a whole bunch of vampire series so I'm not sure if they are all the same or not.) But once I realized (DUH!) that I love the BDB, I just got over it and started to enjoy the story. (It's like the first time I watch a movie based on a book I love.)

I have already bought the next book in the series and I'm excited to learn more about Dante.
