The Shadow of Mudflap (A Foxtrot Team Novel)

To us, first responders are heroes.
But for them, risking their lives is a normal, everyday thing.

Mudflap:
Born the baby of the family, Mudflap has always had something to prove to emerge out of the shadows of his older siblings. He spent eight years as a Special Ops elite sniper and is now a firefighter. But at his heart, he’s just a normal West Texas good old boy who loves his beer, women and football, until the Department of Defense calls him up to say they need his skills again.

Shanae:
Shanae is a first responder of a different sort. She’s a trauma nurse who works on a medical evacuation helicopter team. But while she lives a life full of adrenaline every day, it’s just a cover for her real life, where she hides in the shadows and is secret agent, Shadowfox for the Lubbock Foxtrot Team (LiFT). She’s living the kind of life that most people think exists only in movies and books.

Working for two different branches of the government, Mudflap and Shanae are in a race against time and the terrorists who threaten the very heart of West Texas life, football. They’re working toward the same goal, but find themselves in a confrontation against each other and the lies they’ve each had to hide behind. Can love win out in the end or will the cost be each other and their very lives?

First responders are heroes every day, but this story tells the tale of when they become even more and find love along the way. The key is for them to stay alive so that they can complete their mission and just maybe live happily ever after.

On an ordinary day, they save lives. On an extraordinary day, they save the country.

April Book: Wait for Me

From Amazon:

A woman without a past...

After a tragic accident left her with no memory, Kate Alexander struggled to fit in with a husband and world that didn't feel right. She's had no reason to question what friends and family have told her, not until her husband is suddenly killed and she finds a photo of a young girl in his office. A girl who can't be anyone but a daughter Kate didn't know she had.

A man desperate for a reason to live...
Ryan Harrison lost his wife in a plane crash five years ago. To cope with the pain of her loss, he dedicated himself to his job and to raising their daughter. Now a successful pharmaceutical executive, Ryan has everything a man could want--money, fame and power--but he'd give it all up in a heartbeat for just one more day with the woman he still loves.

Two lives about to converge.
As Kate begins to dig into a past she doesn't remember, evidence leads her to San Francisco and puts her on the path toward Ryan, a man who sees in her the woman he loved and lost. Kate feels a draw to Ryan, one she can't explain, but is that feeling enough to convince her this is where she's supposed to be? As Ryan and Kate search for answers, they uncover lies long buried, a passion hotter than either expected and a danger that threatens...even now...when the second chance they've both been searching for is finally within reach.

If I Were You: Questions post #1

So, I hope you all have read, If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones.  So good right?!

I could not put this book down, I am obsessed and cannot wait for the next one.
But first, let's get to some nitty gritty questions

1.  What do you think happened to Rebecca?
2.  If you found a journal, would you read it?
3.  Who do you think the man is, in her journals?
4.  Sara, has an art degree, but is a teacher.  Grew up with money (her dad only drove Porche 911), but has never traveled.  What is her story?
5.  Why would Sara get hired on the spot?
6.  Who is the creepy dude, that is always at the storage facility?
7.  Do you find that there are a lot of similarities between Sara and Rebecca?  Do you think there is some kind of relation?  Coincidences rarely happen in books.
8.  Do you think Chris and Mark were friends before?  What do you think happened?

I cannot wait to hear what you all think so far!!
Check back in, in a few days.
I will post more questions!!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone~Question 1

Has anyone read the book yet? I'm half way through it! I'm finding it really interesting so far, just not having a lot of solid reading time!

Since I'm not quite finished yet, I'm going to start off easy!

1. What do you think of the world building? The book, at least the modern day world, is set in Prague. I find this such a romantic setting. You don't see a lot of books in this part of the world! If you could live anywhere else, EXCLUDING any of the 50 states, where would it be??

2. The Chimaera. They are pretty cool, right? From the author page: Chimaera are beings from Eretz that are composed of a mixture of animal and human body parts. "Chimaera" is actually a blanket term that refers to a numerous amount of separate races and tribes that have been united for centuries under a single cause - the war against the seraphim. I loved that this book wasn't about vampires, wherewolves, or horny teenagers looking for their soulmate. At this point in my reading state, I needed something DIFFERENT and the Chimaera really scratched that itch!
When they described Karou's sketches, all the odd characters that HAD to be cartoons, and FICTION, and then we met in real life? Was totally awesome. They really had life and stories. What did you think of this twist on the paranormal?

February 2013 Book - Daughter of Smoke and Bone

"Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love.
It did not end well."

Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone)

I've been dying to read this book for awhile now, especially now that the sequel is out and I've heard so many good things about BOTH books!

From Amazon:
Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.

In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low.

And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war.

Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages--not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out.

When one of the strangers--beautiful, haunted Akiva--fixes his fire-colored eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?

Grave Witch

Grave Witch
Discussion 1

Part of what I like about Alex Craft is how real she seems.
Yes, ok she lives in this alternate universe with all this other stuff going on
but other than that I felt like she's someone I could be friends with or have a conversation with.
I loved that she has all these flaws and vulnerabilities even though she's this badass chick.

How do you think the author handled her development?
Did you like her? hate her?

Grave Witch

Grave Witch (Alex Craft, Book 1)

Grave Witch (Alex Craft, Book 1)

Not even death can save her now.

As a grave witch, Alex Craft can speak to the dead-she's even on good terms with Death himself. As a consultant for the police, she's seen a lot of dark magic, but nothing has prepared her for her latest case. When she's raising a "shade" involved in a high profile murder, it attacks her, and then someone makes an attempt on her life. Someone really doesn't want her to know what the dead have to say, and she'll have to work with mysterious homicide detective Falin Andrews to figure out why...

Hope you Chicks like it!!!
