Jenny Pox Discussion #1
Warning may include spoilers
So this month we are discussing Jenny Pox by J.L Bryan, if you have a kindle it's still free here over at Amazon!! I actually paid for my copy as I brought it late last year and just so happened to be a bonus that when I chose to review this book for the Chic Lits it was FREEEE so make sure you go on over and grab it. I'm still not quite sure what I thought about the book, I'm trying to process the ending..... anyway moving on.
So the first question I want to ask is, which of the 3 powers would you want if you could choose?

Beautiful Disaster- Discussion #5
FAMILY...
The author shows us glimpses of what both Travis and Abby's
life was like growing up.
If we compare their upbringings and family life experiences, do you feel that there are more similarities or differences?
How does the way they were raised affect their approach to relationships? {or lack thereof}

Here are a few of mine...
“Let me guess, it's the love of your life?" I said quoting Travis' statement about his motorcycle.
"No, it's a car. The love of my life will be a woman with my last name.”
"No, it's a car. The love of my life will be a woman with my last name.”
“He was afraid of nothing. Until he'd met me.”
-Abby
“I'm gonna fuck up. I'm gonna fuck up a lot, Pidge, but you have to forgive me.”
-Travis
and of course...
“I know we're fucked up, alright? I'm impulsive, and hot tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don't deserve you...but I fucking love you, Abby. I love you more than I loved anyone or anything ever. When you're around, I don't need booze, or money, or the fighting, or the one-night stands...”

Pidgeon. Beautiful Disaster- Discussion #3
Pidgeon.
The nick name that Travis calls Abby.
From the first time they meet...
Excerpt from the book:
“Abs? What are you, a workout video?" he sneered.
"Pigeon?" I said with the same amount of disdain. "An annoying bird that craps all over the sidewalk?"
You like Pigeon," he said defensively. "It's a dove, an attractive girl, a winning card in poker, take your pick. You're my Pigeon.”

Did you like it? Hate it? Indifferent?
Did you wonder WHY he called her Pidgeon
rather than anything else?
OR...
did you GET where the author was coming from and her reasoning for Pidgeon?
{ I didn't actually put it together until I read an interview where Jamie McGuire explained it.}
Excerpt from Interview with Jamie...
Lily:
"When he calls her Pidge, was that something he got from Lady and the Tramp, and did you realize the little analogy there?"
Jamie:
"Yes! Finally someone caught it! Travis is the school Tramp…he calls Abby, the only woman he considers a “lady”, Pigeon. I am awestruck at the number of people that don’t get it."
